Application Process

Admission Requirements

To be granted admission to Memorial’s diploma in business administration, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Have at least five years of full-time work experience or equivalent (does not need to be consecutive, full-time employment). Proof of five-year, full-time work experience may be expressed in a letter from the employer(s) indicating the dates worked.
  • Complete the 15 credit hours (five courses) required for admission with an overall average of at least 60%:

    • English 1110 (or English 1021) and one other three credit hour English course*
    • Mathematics 1000**
    • Business 1000
    • A non-business elective (three credit hours)***

*Most students complete English 1080 as their second English course because it is a prerequisite for English 1110. Please note that English 1020 is the prerequisite for English 1021.

**Students may be required to write the Math Placement Test (MPT) to determine their level of preparedness in mathematics. Depending on the results, students may need to complete Math 1090 or foundation-level math courses before registering for Math 1000.

***Students who are required to complete Math 1090 due to the results of the MPT may use it as their non-business elective.

Application Process

The admission process is comprised of the following steps:

Step 1: If the 15 credit hours (five courses) required for admission are completed, submit an application to Memorial University, indicating the diploma in business administration on the application.

OR

If the 15 credit hours (five courses) required for admission are not completed, submit an application to Memorial University, indicating the pre-business on the application. Once the 15 credit hours (five courses) required for admission are completed, it is necessary to submit the Faculty of Business Administration Application for Admission by using the Admissions menu within Memorial Self-Service at www5.mun.ca/admit/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin.

Step 2: Submit proof of five-year, full-time work experience to the attention of Assistant Registrar for Business, via email or mail:
