Health Insurance

All registered international students are automatically enrolled in Memorial University's foreign health insurance plan. Purchase of this insurance plan is mandatory and there is no option for exchange students to opt out of the plan.  The cost is approximately $206.84/semester. You will be automatically billed through your MUN Self-Service Account for this service once you have been registered for courses. For more information regarding health insurance, please visit the International Student Advising Office’s website: www.mun.ca/isa/health.

If you require confirmation of health insurance coverage in order to travel to Canada, simply email isa@mun.ca and they can arrange for the foreign health insurance company, Student Guard, to send a letter to you confirming your enrolment in their foreign health plan.

Upon arrival in St. John’s you must go to the International Student Advising Office, room 1000A on the first floor of Corte Real (in the Burton’s Pond Apartment Complex) to sign forms relating to your health insurance plan.
