Master of Business Administration (MBA) Admission Requirements

Successful applicants to Memorial’s MBA program must have:

Education
AACSB-logoThe equivalent of a four-year Canadian undergraduate degree with a minimum B average, or second class standing, from a recognized university. For universities that use the 4-point grade point average, this is a minimum requirement of 2.75. Applicants with a three-year bachelor degree: Whether your degree would meet the requirement would depend upon the courses you had taken and your level of academic achievement. Your credentials would be formally assessed after you have submitted your application and supporting documents.

GMAT or GRE
An acceptable and balanced GMAT score (normally a minimum of 550) or an acceptable and balanced GRE General Test score (normally 302) is required for all applicants.

Work Experience
Two years of full-time work experience, or equivalent, deemed acceptable to the Faculty of Business Administration.

English Language Proficiency
Applicants whose prior university instruction was not in English must demonstrate completion of either the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) tests. Minimum TOEFL scores are: 580 for the paper-based test; 237 on the computer-based test; or 92 on the Internet-based test. The minimum IELTS score is an overall band score of 7.0. Applicants who have completed an undergraduate program, or a graduate program at a recognized institution where the language of instruction is English are not required to take an English proficiency test. If the institution is located outside of Canada / United States, applicants are advised to provide a document (e.g., transcript or letter) from their university stating the language of instruction as English (as “Grad Proof of English Proficiency”).

References
Two letters of reference are required. A mix of professional and academic referees is preferred.

Application Deadline
Applicants for the MBA program must submit their applications and all supporting materials to the School of Graduate Studies by the following dates:

  • Fall semester: Feb. 1 (International applicants - Fall semester start only)
                               May 1 (Canadian residents)
  • Winter semester: Oct. 15
  • Spring semester: Jan. 15

Applications and all supporting admission documents must be received by the application deadline.

Full-time and international students are admitted for the fall semester only.
Part-time students may enter the program in the fall, winter or spring semesters.
